Blogger Recognition Award – 2018

I have been nominated for the Blogger Recognition Award by Elisabet, she is the Author of Cloud Walker blog, she says she is a lady who lives in the clouds with her imagination and dreams.

Sorry Elisabet, taking so long to do this award, which I do appreciate very much, the last six weeks have been a very trying time for me, with a family death and my husband being in the hospital for eight days, the time has run away.

Let’s face it it is never too late to carry this award forward to new bloggers.

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog.

2. Write a post to show your award.

3. Give a brief story about how your blog started.

4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.

5. Select (up to 15) other bloggers for this award.

6. Comment on each blog to let them know you nominated them and provide a link to to the post you created.

Questions for me

1. Why do I blog?

Love the connection to my followers, some of them I know as well as my family, that is what happens when you continually read their posts.

2. What most frustrates you about blogging?

Only one thing frustrates me when I get a like, and they haven’t added their website to their profile on gravatar.

3. What do you enjoy most about blogging?

Writing poetry and reading my followers blogs.

4. How do you define success?

Success is what you make of the word, in my late seventies, I would say I have had  success throughout my life, that is how I got to old-age, think positively aways.

5. What is the one thing you most want from your followers?

The feeling of happiness when I read their posts, that isn’t always possible as many have troubled lives and at times I shed tears for them, just keep writing, it helps many bloggers to come out the right side of the sadness.

6. What is the one thing you most want to give the people you follow?

Love and understanding, two things.

7. How do you define the difference between positive and negative criticism?

Not sure, never had any criticism on my blog, I have very nice followers that all show respect for me, as I do for them.

8. How do you deal with moments when a blogger you like posts something you don’t like?

Never had that problem, my thought’s and respect cover everything in life and I respect what they write as they do mine

9. Is your blog a journal, a literary experiment, performance art or none of that?

None of these, it is whatever appears in the WordPress reader that gives me an idea for writing, especially poetry challenges.

10. What is a success as a blogger?

Able to come up with a post most days, it keeps a writer happy.

11. By your definition, do you consider yourself successful?

Yes, love writing new forms of poetry it makes my day.

View from Hagleys Garden

What country, city or continent would you most like to visit and why?

New Zealand, all though I have lived here all my life and I love it, but  I have never been to the South Island would love to see Hagley Park in Christchurch, where my husbands Great Grand Father arrived in the mid-1800 century, his grave in down there.

What was the most inspirational time in your life so far?

All my life has been inspirational, as each day goes by, and now in my golden years, there are more and more times that situations light up my heart and gives me powerful motivations to continue on and face a new day with creative ideas while I’m still active.

IMG_0070

What are you passionate about?

My family also enjoy the little town of Waitara in Taranaki NZ, it has much beauty that misses the eyes of an average person passing through.

What is your favorite book and why?

I have no favorite book, the bible is about the only book I have now, my books have all been given away over the years, to new homes, less clutter to be removed from my home when I’m no longer living. I get all my reading from blogs on the internet.

What is your favorite time of year?

Autumn Ferns Scene

What other interests do you have besides blogging?

IMG_0059

Walking -This photo is the walkway beside the Waitara river.

Do you prefer the beach or the mountains?

I like both.  It is only a five-minute walk to the ocean from my home, and only 30 minute drive to the Mount Taranaki/Egmont.

Gemma Mount Egmont:Taranaki

Where did you go for your most memorable holiday?

Walk up the tower at Wanganui with my family, remembering my 4 year old grandson playing a game as we went around the corners of the tower, it was some program he had seen on the TV, he acted it out very well, that was some 20 years ago I have never forgotten, so much laughter.

391px-War_Memorial_Tower_Wanganui

Do you prefer a sunny or a rainy day?

Sunny days, in Taranaki NZ with the mountain in the heart of our little part of the world, we get many rainy days which is ideal for farming.

If you had a day all to yourself, how would you spend it?

Most likely sitting at my computer reading other bloggers posts and writing.

I’m very happy doing that, it completely relaxes me while my husband watches TV, I can completely cut the background noise out.

Unique Blogger Award 2017

Unique Blogger Award 2017

Emily – At writers beginning, has nominated me for the “Unique Blogger Award 2017”.

Emily reads and writes always has and nothing gives her more joy and pleasure than playing games.

Please check her attractive blog.

Rules:

    1. Link to the blogger who has shown love to you by nominating you.
    2. Answer the questions you are given.
    3. In the spirit of sharing love and solidarity with our blogging family, nominate 8-13 people for the same award.
    4. Ask the people you nominate 3 new questions.

Here are the questions I was asked

  1. Can you remember the first story you ever wrote? Can you remember what triggered it/influenced it? Or are you more like me – writing so much that you can’t remember that far back?
  2. Why do you write online, opposed to keeping your writing to yourself? I only ask because I used to be very private about my writing. I didn’t have the courage to show anyone because I was too scared that they’d criticize it. Was it the same for you?
  3. Which one of these do you think is the more powerful – a sad story that makes the tears flow, or a story that fills you with confidence and determination? I think it’s interesting; obviously, both are powerful, because they affect us so much, but which does so more? Here are my Answers – I started blogging many years ago, Squidoo, HubPages is just a couple of them. This blog on WordPress is the first one I have put my heart and soul into it every day.
Question 2. At first, I was very wary about sharing my writing but it does not worry me now if someone does not like it, they do not have to read it.
Question 3. I like all types of stories, I do not consider one more powerful than the other. In the last few months, I cannot read long or small lettered writing as my head becomes too painful concentrating on the screen, so I prefer poetry that I don’t have to follow the lines across the page.

So now I need to give my nominees three new questions. Here we go!

Name your favorite author, favorite musician/music group, favorite book, and favorite movie.

I think that’s more than three answers in one question so I will leave it at that if you like you can answer the questions I was asked.

    My Nominees:

    Reena Saxena

    The Bag Lady

    Cathy Lynn Brooks

    Joelle LeGendre

How did my blog start?

I started this blog in January 2016 by doing “Blogging 101” which was a fourteen days assignment, I learned so much, and I thank Jose and the WordPress.com team for running it.

Surprise the link is still working, maybe readers reading this may like to do the assignments – https://blogging101january2016b.wordpress.com/daily-tasks/

My two pieces of blogging advice.

1. My advice for new bloggers is: write as often as you can, build your community of followers by reading other bloggers blogs, like, comments, and follow if you are interested.
