Back Where I Come From

This challenge is based on Kenny Chesney’s song Back Where I Come From.  There are other home-and hometown-related questions to round out the 30 days of posts.

September 2017 Day 8

How old were you when you took your first drink of alcohol if you ever have? What were the circumstances surrounding that moment?

Sometime after I left home in February 1959, my parents never drank or went to parties, alcohol was a no – no in my parents home.

My first drink of alcohol was a couple of months after leaving home, I was with my boy friend (who became my husband Christmas 1959), I don’t think I drank much, but I was so sick I never touch it for many months later, not even at my wedding nine months later.

  1. I’m the same, Elsie; I’m a one drink wonder, as they used to say. In fact, I’m a 1/2 drink wonder. When we go to a restaurant, sometimes I’ll have a wine with the meal. I can’t get through the whole glass so K usually ends up finishing it off. One things for sure ~ at least we don’t have to spend lots of money buying booze… Haha… 🙂

  2. Being sick from alcohol is a pretty rough sick, too, nearly as icky as morning sickness (which, for me, lasted all day for months). We didn’t have alcohol at our wedding, but there was champagne as David’s sister’s wedding. I had a sip of it and my mother swears that I was buzzed when I got home. I really don’t remember. 🙂

Thanks for joining the challenge. Have a blessed weekend.
