September 2017 – Day 6

Did your town have a river running through or near it? What was its name?

Stratford has the Patea River going right through its center.

Living in Taranaki there are many streams, and rivers coming down Mount Egmont/ Taranaki, there were three going through our farm at Midhirst.

Many Rivers makes it hard to keep animals out of  the stream, which is a no, no now, in modern farming, no animals drinking water from streams or passing through to get to the other side of the river to paddocks on the farm, you need a bridge which most times are big culverts in stream, but when there is heavy rain they get washed out a continued expense for farms.

But with that said many rivers in Taranaki make it a very healthy area for farming.
