Weekend Writing Prompt #3 – Imperfect

If you want to share what you come up with, please leave a link HERE

Thank you, Sammi Cox, for the prompt.

Write a piece of flash fiction, a poem, a chapter for your novel…anything you like.  Or take the challenge.

A word and photo prompt to get your creativity flowing this weekend.

Here are the writing prompt challenge – Prose Challenge – Write a story in exactly 100 words that are inspired in some way by either the word prompt or the photo prompt.

Poetry Challenge – Write a poem of at least ten lines, where every other line contains the word “imperfect” or one of its synonyms.

I will continue to write a poem like a did last week.

A nine-line story this week, it will have the first letter of each line spelling the word “imperfect” when reading from the beginning to the end.

The theme will tie into the definition of the word

Tree Stump – Sad it was once a tree now an Imperfect site

I admire the way trees can continue growing for so many years under imperfect conditions.

Manmade and animal tracks around the roots eroding the soil.

Plus mother nature placing torrents of water that flows around the roots.

Eventually telling the story of a sad state of affairs for those deserving trees.

Rather than disturb the roots of the tree with more feet passing by.

Fetch a shovel and cover the roots firmly with fresh enriched soil.

Either that or remove the weeds so small insects like slaters and ants don’t shelter.

Continually chewing and eroding the roots even more.

Tell someone corrects the way those poor trees roots are showing, they will die fighting against the odds.

Quote that goes nicely with my poem about trees

Consider a tree for a moment. As beautiful as trees are to look at, we don’t see what goes on underground – as they grow roots.
Trees must develop deep roots in order to grow strong and produce their beauty.
But we don’t see the roots.
We just see and enjoy the beauty. In much the same way, what goes on inside of us is like the roots of a tree. Joyce Meyer

  1. Thanks for joining in with the weekend writing prompt. I really enjoyed reading your story, it’s so true. We admire what we can see without thinking too much of the roots and what’s going on out of sight. 🙂
