a deep wound that never heals

everything feels it

animals their life matters

why dump innocent kittens

English tanka poems consist of five units, usually with the following pattern of    5-7-5-7-7 which is syllables.

  1. When one of our neighbors moved, they left their kitties behind. They became our kitties after that. There’s always food and water out there for the neighborhood cats, so we always have cats hanging around. One time there were as many as 20 regulars out there. Now, we’re down to three. I just don’t understand how anyone could be mean to them.
