Carpe Diem #1050 Jane Reichhold’s Legacy September 10th – Prompt – Frogs & Fish
This month at Carpe Diem all the prompts are from Jane’s Saijiki “A Dictionary of Haiku”.
In every episode, Chèvrefeuille will share haiku by Jane (and sometimes tanka) to inspire us.
All my writing for Jane Reichhold Legacy will be tanka poetry, writing tanka using one word as a prompt, I intend to do it in a way to honor Jane, hope it works, as I’m still learning.
September 10th, 2016 prompt is “Frogs & Fish”
if every female
believed boys like frogs and fish
you would never learn
what my mother tried to teach
the true facts about young men
Very funny!

Your tanka made me smile, Elsie;)

Pleased it made you smile. As I was writing that one it brought back many memories of what mothers told children about boys in the early 1950’s.
Have a nice day,

Do mind if I ask for a little more detail on the boys, frogs and fish saying?

Sorry if I have offended you. If you knew my mother sixty-five years ago there were lots of excuses to keep us girls (I had three sisters, two of them never married,) away from boys, but it never stopped me.
I have been married for nearly fifty-seven years. I will have to search Goggle to see what I can find. Come to mind was about the frogs, slugs, and snails in their pockets.
Most likely will remember tonight in my sleep. Have a nice week.

No you haven’t at all.
I only asked because I like all the silly stories we are told to keep us away from boys. I have a little girl now and wanted to add some more to it. I haven’t heard of the one you referred to in your poem that’s all.

You are right, there maybe nothing to do with frogs and fish, after all, it is only fiction, made up poetry.
All the best with bringing up your daughter, if I find something I will let you know.
Happy days writing.
