This month at Carpe Diem all the prompts are from Jane’s Saijiki “A Dictionary of Haiku”.
In every episode, Chèvrefeuille will share haiku by Jane (and sometimes tanka) to inspire us.
All my writing for Jane Reichhold Legacy will be tanka poetry, writing tanka using one word as a prompt, I intend to do it in a way to honor Jane, hope it works, as I’m still learning.
September 8th, 2016 prompt is “Riddles”
why talk in riddles
I can’t understand one word
just annoying me
stop and think before you speak
life will be much easier

I was starting to create this episode and looked back in my first concept of the prompt list I saw that I mistyped in the definitive prompt-list, because the prompt wasn’t “riddles”, but had to be “puddles” … so my excuses for that. In this episode, I will, however use both prompts.
I have written a tanka using the prompt – puddles
just like true lovers
skipping through puddles snugly
memories as a kid
mothers voice came to my ears
do not get your gumboots wet
