Carpe Diem #1069  Jane Reichhold’s Legacy September 30th – Prompt – Leafless Trees

This month at Carpe Diem all the prompts are from Jane’s Saijiki “A Dictionary of Haiku”.

In every episode, Chèvrefeuille will share haiku by Jane (and sometimes tanka) to inspire us.

All my writing for Jane Reichhold Legacy will be tanka poetry, writing tanka using one word as a prompt, I intend to do it in a way to honor Jane, hope it works, as I’m still learning.

September 30th, 2016 prompt is “Leafless Trees”.

leafless trees are now budding

the future looks bright

petals will be falling soon

waiting for fruit to show form

Weekly Tanka Prompt Challenge – Week 12 – Summer & Beer

Simple Guidelines.

Take the two words “summer & beer” and write a Tanka Poem.

Tanka consists of five units, usually with the following pattern of    5-7-5-7-7 which is syllables.

This is for the readers that haven’t tried writing a Tanka and don’t understand how to write one.

Line 1 – 5 syllables, Line 2 – 7 syllables, Line 3 – 5 syllables, Line 4 – 7 syllables, Line 5 – 7 syllables.

What is a syllable?

  1. a unit of pronunciation having one vowel sound, with or without surrounding consonants, forming the whole or a part of a word; for example, there are two syllables in water and three in inferno.
  2. You can use the picture above.

Copy and paste the link of your finished tanka in the comments below.
