Simple Guidelines.

Take the two words “lemons & mother” and write a Tanka Poetry.

Tanka consists of five units, usually with the following pattern of    5-7-5-7-7 which is syllables.

This is for the readers that haven’t tried writing a Tanka and don’t understand how to write one.

Line 1 – 5 syllables, Line 2 – 7 syllables, Line 3 – 5 syllables, Line 4 – 7 syllables, Line 5 – 7 syllables.

What is a syllable?

  1. a unit of pronunciation having one vowel sound, with or without surrounding consonants, forming the whole or a part of a word; for example, there are two syllables in water and three in inferno.
  2. You can use the picture above.

Copy and paste your link of your finished Tanka to the comments below, I will reblog it and share and Twitter.
