Day Five, of Blogging University – Writing Everyday Inspiration – Hook ‘Em with a Quote

You can write about anything for today’s post — the only requirement is that you begin with a block quote, the type of quote you choose is up to you.

H. Jackson Brown Jr  Quote

“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover”.

What this Quote mines to me.

The last couple of years has been a very trying time.

Selling our dairy farm after forty-six years of living there, which left a very sour note for some of my five children.

On the 15 May 2015, I had an operation for ACC Cancer, a very rare cancer on my top lip.

year after my ACC operation -15-05-16

Sharing a terrible photo of me taken one year later  15 May 2016.

The quote above made me stop and think about what will I be doing if I’m still alive in twenty years time.

So as the quote say’s “Throw off the bowlines and sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.”

Now the photo above is terrifying, I wouldn’t want to sail under that water falling down. I would sooner keep my feet on land, have never been on a boat at sea ever.

So sailing away is out for me as I’m still under a specialist for my cancer and not feeling like sailing for sure, but I will keep Exploring and discovering new “WordPress Bloggers ” which I enjoy reading their posts very much.

As for dreaming it’s free to dream, so I will keep dreaming, enjoying my writing, with the hope that my cancer gets cured and I don’t keep getting pains on the right side of my head and face.

Gee how my face has aged since my profile photo was taken on 25 December 2013, 2  1/2 years ago.

  1. The image taken 10 days after the op, and the one of ‘now’ are worlds apart; thank goodness. I can only imagine how much inner strength is needed to deal with such a condition.
All the best with the continued medical support. I hope, too, for you to be ‘out of pain’…

    • Thanks for your kind reply, my face has healed quite nicely, only I can’t laugh, it feels as though my face is going to break.
Never mind I’m still alive, I can put up with anything after that operation.
Hope you are having a great week.

  2. What a great quote! I am often scared of being on a boat, because I am not a very good swimmer. But I feel like there is so much I would miss out on so I force myself to get on. I have ridden the Maid Of The Mist at Niagara Falls and albeit terrifying at times, it was one of the most beautiful and thrilling things I have ever done. I hope you get better soon and can take that ride.
