Palmerston North is the main city of the Manawatu-Wanganui region of the North Island of New Zealand.

The district has a population of 83,500 (June 2015 estimate).

Centre of Palmerston North is known as The Square it is a seven-hectare park of lawn, trees, lakes, fountains, and gardens in the centre of the city.

This bright building on the edge of the Palmerston North square is known as “Square Edge”.

It was opened June 1945, and has retained much of its art deco style, with polished wooden floors and ornate ceilings.

Square Edge Creative Centre has been the focus of artistic talent in PN for several decades. It’s home to a number of artist studios, shops, an art gallery and performance/rehearsal spaces.

Palmerston North holds many memories dear to my heart, it is where I meet my husband 57 years ago.

It’s quite amazing since I wrote this post last week, I have been down to Palmerston North, my Brother-in-law passed away, the only thing I wished I had had more time to take some photos, it was a three hour drive, which was rather tiring, driving for an elderly couple.

It is still a beautiful place even after all those years since we lived there.

Recommend it for a holiday, a very busy town just like a city.

If you would like to know more about Palmerston North.
